The E building

The new E building of Tays was finished in autumn 2015. The kidney centre and the infection unit are located in the building.

The E building is located in the middle of the hospital area, surrounded by the tall B section, the lower A section and Coxa. The building has three floors for patient treatment.

The new facilities provide great improvements for the comfort of kidney and infection patients and the practical arrangements of patient treatment. The previously scattered units are now all in one place.

Längelmävesi and pine forest as the design themes

The E building is different from the current, white buildings of Tays. Its facade consists of green concrete coating and glass with pinewood used as a graphical element. Pine is a typical tree found in the area.

Indoors, the main theme flowing through the spaces is the Längelmävesi lake. Water is an essential part of the treatment of dialysis patients. The water theme is visible in the interior decoration and in glass artist Markku Salo's artwork reaching through three floors, Veden tarinoita (Stories of Water).

The E building is the first part of the extensive renewal programme of Tays, which will renew the hospital's operational practices and facilities.
