Children’s Hormonal and Metabolic Disorders

Paediatric Endocrinology

At Tays, we examine and treat children and adolescents with diabetes and other endocrinological diseases or metabolic disorders. Examples of endocrinological diseases include diseases of the thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, pituitary gland, adrenal gland and gonads.

At Tays, the examination and treatment of the diseases of hormone-producing organs in children and adolescents under the age of 16 is centralised in paediatric wards and outpatient clinics.

Examinations and treatment at Tays

Disturbed consistency of growth, for example, retardation or acceleration, may be an indication of a disease. We will examine whether the growth disorder is due to an underlying condition such as thyroid dysfunction, growth hormone deficiency or premature onset of puberty. When necessary, we will commence hormone replacement therapy to treat the disease and plan the follow-up.

Children and adolescents with diabetes are treated and their follow-up takes place at Tays. We also treat other diseases of the hormone-producing organs in cases where special expertise is needed that is not available in outpatient health care.
